Printing PDFs to Scale
We have downloadable PDFs for each of our designs that you can use to test fit before purchasing. Unfortunately, most browsers are not set up by default to print to scale so there are a few hoops you'll have to jump through to do it.
- First you'll need to install Adobe Reader 11 or newer.
- On the product page, right click and save the scale PDF drawing to your computer. On Chrome, it's the "Save Link As" option, on IE, it's "Save Target As", on FireFox it's "Save File As", on Safari it's "Download Linked File".
- Use Adobe Reader to open the PDF you downloaded and choose the "Poster" option under "Page Sizing & Handling". It will look something like this, notice the hash marks across the image of the plate:
- Print out the image and reassemble the pages to make the image of the plate, then tape them together and cut out the image of the plate. You now have an accurate template to use against your timbers to ensure perfect fit.
It's a pain, but it's worth it. You don't want to cut a lot of steel plates only to find they don't fit your timbers. Good luck.
