1/2" Tie Rod Assembly without Turnbuckle

A 1/2" tie rod assembly without turnbuckle includes two #2 clevises, two 1/2" clevis pins, and two custom-length 1/2" rods that all thread together into one strong assembly. 1/2" tie rods are primarily used for decorative purposes though they may be sufficient for awnings.

Without a turnbuckle the ability to tighten the assembly will be limited compared to assemblies with a turnbuckle, but it will provide a look with simple, clean lines. A strap wrench can be used to tighten the assembly.

These assemblies are designed to be used with our tie rod brackets. For a complete tie rod solution you will need two of any style of our brackets to match the tie rod assembly you create here.

Note: Tie rod assemblies without a turnbuckle have one long rod. This means you will be more likely to incur extreme-length shipping charges. Choose an option with a turnbuckle to minimize the cost of shipping.

How to Measure

  • Pitched Roof: Measure the point on the ceiling or rafter where the centerline of the bracket's will be installed. The tie rods themselves will set just a bit under this line.
  • 90-degree Awning: Measure the points on the wall & awning where centerline of the bracket's will be installed. The rod will be elevated up a distance that depends on the diameter of the rod. Note that only 45-degree tie-rods are supported with this calculator. Call for custom angles.
  • Wall-to-Wall/Column-to-Column: Just measure the distance between your walls or columns where the brackets will be installed.
