W4 Saddle at 9/12 pitch, 3/16" steel: the ridge beam ends at the plate W4 Saddle at 9/12 pitch, 3/16" steel: cut for the ridge beam to pass through
View

The ridge beam stops at the saddle. The truss’s other face takes a plain W4. The ridge beam runs on through the truss, and the plate on each face is cut away for it.

Thickness

3/16" steel is a good choice for purely decorative plates. 1/4" is better for applications that need structural support.

01 Description

About the W4 Saddle

The W4 saddle plate is exactly like our W4 plate but has a welded saddle for a ridge beam. It therefore connects the top chords, king post, and a ridge beam in one assembly. The connector can be made for pass-through ridge beams or ridge beams that terminate at the connector.

Note: There are many ways to configure this kind of connection including notching the plate for the ridge beam to pass through, the width of the saddle, the vertical location of the saddle, etc. None of these changes affect the price but they do affect the fitment. We will contact you after your order to ensure we fabricate the connector to fit your application perfectly.
