About us
Timberplates is a small, family-owned shop in Santa Anna, in the heart of Central Texas. Since 2011 we’ve built heavy steel plates and connectors to order for timber frame builders, architects, and homeowners. Today we cut, weld, thread, and powder coat in house, and our fiber laser gives every plate clean edges and bolt-ready holes.
In 2008, my wife and I moved back to my hometown of Santa Anna to raise our three kids. In 2010, we built a home on family land. Its exposed trusses and vaulted wood ceiling are pictured on our home page. I naively assumed I could go online and buy heavy steel plates for those trusses. Finding nothing, I figured out how to make them myself.
In 2011, my wife and I started Timberplates so other families wouldn’t hit the same wall. It took more than a year to make our first sale, the pool pavilion pictured here. We still don’t charge for custom designs because helping people build something that doesn’t exist yet is the reason we started.
