Thickness

3/16" is our standard plate and suits most decorative work. 1/4" is a third heavier and stiffer. Our plates are architectural hardware, not engineered or load-rated. If a plate is part of how your structure carries load, your engineer decides whether it's suitable and how thick it should be.

Bolt holes

Holes are cut 1/16" larger than the bolt, so it slides through easily.

01 Description

About the peak truss plate

The Sierra peak truss plate is useful for connecting rafters without king posts at the peak of a gable.  If you use an N plate at the top of the truss you will probably use a U plate on the bottom of the truss.

Timber sizes are a guide. Where the bolts land depends on your timbers and roof pitch, so a plate may need to sit off center, and confirming that the connection meets your building code is the builder’s responsibility. Our guide to bolt distances shows how far each bolt sits from the ends and edges of its timber.
